If the battery voltage is too low, the light will come on. If the battery is fully charged and the alternator is working, the light should go out. It is possible the airbag module needs to be reset, but I'm not familiar with this vehicle to know for sure.
I would get the charging system checked out. Do you know why the battery was dead?

It's a 2004 PT Cruiser with AT and turbo. the battery died and the starter was bad, so both were replaced. The light stayed on afterwards. The rest of the car is running fine.

Check the battery cables really good, but if they're OK, I would take it back to the shop that did the work, they should check it for free since they just did this work to it. Or did you perform the work yourself?
