Air filter replacement on 2008 Volkswagen Jetta

Why does it cost so much just to change the air filter? Can I do it myself?

You definitely can do this yourself, as well as other repairs. I suggest you get a good repair manual though. You can get really good online subscription to repair info at alldatadiy.com or bentleypublishers.com These are really good investments and you will be much more educated when you do need to take you Jetta in for repairs.
