 Rookie

My a/c is working off and on. For months it will not work, then I had it checked and it worked for about a month and now it is not working again. When it is not working, I can sometimes hear the clutch engage and other times it does not. I got an estimate for $1100 to fix everything, but didn't do anything because it magically started working again. Looking for a cheaper solution if possible.

    One thing that comes to mind is the pressure cycling switch which is screwed onto the side of the accumulator. Some time when you have the A/C turned on and it is not working - the compressor is not engaging - try taping the cycling switch with the handle of a screw driver. If the compressor comes when you tap the switch then a new switch may be in order. You should not need to discharge the A/C system to change the cycling switch. Good luck!

    The blower or fan on the AC will not operate sometimes. After driving 10-15 miles it will click on. This happens only sometimes.
