WE ARE EXPERIENCING A OVER HEATING PROBLEM WHENEVER WE USE OR AIR CONDITIONER BY SETTING IT ON MAX (WHICH MAKES IT HEAT UP FASTER THAN AC SETTINGS. bY NOT USING THE A/C OUR CAR DOES NOT OVERHEAT AND STAYS NORMAL. 13 MONTHS AGO WE HAD A/C REPAIRS OF COMPRESSOR,(AS IT WAS MAKING NOISES BUT STILL SENDING OUT COLD AIR) WITH THE COMPRESSOR, & ALL LINES DAMPER ETC. BEING REPLACED. NO PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW WITH THE ABOVE PROBLEMS & COLD AIR FROM VENTS CONTINUE UNTIL HEATING OCCURS. RADIATOR WAS FLUSHED BUT STILL SAME PROBLEM. COULD THERMOSTATE BE PROBLEM WITH EXTRA PRESSURE OF A/C BEING ON BECAUSE WITH ADDITIONAL ACCELERATION OF ENGINE WHILE STOPPED KEEPS HEATING PROBLEM DOWN?

No I don't think it's the thermostat,it would run hot with or with the ac on.
The 2002 Mercury has a problem with 1&2 upshift, meaning when you turn on
your ac your engine rpm should increase not decrease If it dosen't that put an extra load on your engine. Causing you engine to overheat. (if this is the case).
Temp-Solutn/ use right type of antifrezze using 80% or more.(might work)
See a Mercury dealer if it's 1&2 thing.I don"t think your local mech can help you.
