2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Q&A

2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Question: Air Bag repair

I recently failed an inspection on my vehicle because of my air bag. The infl light comes on but does not cut back off. I was told told I have to have this repaired in order to pass my inspection. I have a 1993 Buick Lesabre. I not sure if the air bag is still inside the steering wheel. How much will this type repair cost if i have to have a new bag installed. -
Answer 1
The first thing to do is to scan the SRS computer an dread the codes(s). Then trace down the problem no matter what type of car you have. -
Answer 2
Faults within a vehicle's srs airbag system can be complicated to figure out occasionally. You might want to give a call over to the guys at www.ProAirbags.com (1-877-388-5887) I found them on the web a couple years ago and I have dealt with them ever since. When it comes to vehicle srs airbag systems they know them inside and out whether troubleshooting, repairing or replacing. -
Answer 3
i have a 2000 explorer and the air bag light came on and flashed a 3 then a 6. It was a broken wire under the passenger seat. check your wires under the back of both seats, it will have a yellow plug at the end and might be broken at the plug from shoes kicking at it. a dealer will charge you an arm and a leg to replace. just cut the wires and twist together, i shoved mine under the carpet so i never have that happen again -
