2002 Dodge Ram Van 3500

 

Question: After backing up, engine dies when shift to Drive.

 Rookie

After backing up in reverse, when I shift to "Drive" the engine dies immediately. Cranks up again okay and then goes forward okay. This problems repeats each time I go in reverse and then shift to Drive. Repair shop cannot find anything wrong.

    Sounds like the engine may be moving and pulling a wiring harness. You may also have a worn motor mount that exacerbates the situation. I have seen this type of problem, actually just last week. Have your shop pull on the harnesses.
