Suspension & Steering, December 16, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

One lower control arm is used on each side of the rear suspension. These Acura RLX vehicles are being recalled because the bolts mounting the rear lower control arms may be loose. This can result in reduced steering ability, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the rear suspension lower control arm bolts to correct this concern.

For Models: Acura MDX, Honda Odyssey

Body, Interior & Misc., September 19, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Due to electrical interference the airbag control module may fail causing inadvertent deployment of the front airbags, side curtain airbags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners. Unexpected airbag deployment can result in personal injury and/or a vehicle crash. Dealers will install a suppressor unit to limit the electrical interference to the airbag control module to correct this concern.

For Models: Acura RSX, Honda S2000

Brakes, June 13, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The braking system uses an assist device called a brake booster. These vehicles use a brake booster that is operated by engine vacuum and in certain cases the booster may not be able to maintain a vacuum when the brake pedal is depressed. This will result in reduced braking assistance, requiring additional force on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. Dealers will inspect the brake booster and replace it as necessary.

For Models: Acura RDX, Honda CR-V, Honda Odyssey

Drive Train, April 15, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The shift interlock system is designed to prevent the shifter from being moved out of the park position unless the brake pedal is depressed. These vehicles are being recalled because during sub-freezing temperatures, the interlock mechanism may be slow to operate. The could allow the shifter to be moved from the park position when it should not be allowed to do so. As a result the vehicle could roll unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will install an updated shift interlocking mechanism to correct this concern.

For Models: Acura TSX

Engine, March 15, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

In states that use corrosive materials for deicing the road the driver may track materials into the vehicle that saturate the carpeting. If the carpet becomes saturated it can drip onto the engine's Electronic Control Unit (ECU) resulting in corrosion of the ECU housing. This damage may cause the engine to stall without warning. Dealers will inspect and replace any damaged ECU. All vehicles will have a waterproof cover installed onto the ECU.

For Models: Acura MDX, Acura RL, Honda Pilot

Brakes, March 14, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system is designed to help keep the vehicle from skidding if the driver tries to round a corner too quickly. This is achieved by applying the brake at one or more wheels as necessary. During the manufacturing process an electrical capacitor in the VSA control module may have been damaged. This can cause intermittent minor application of the brakes or if the driver were to apply the brakes while the VSA is malfunctioning, the vehicle may come to an abrupt stop. Additionally, due to a loose electrical ground connection, on certain 2005 Pilots the VSA system may unexpectedly apply partial brake force without illumination of the brake lights. Sudden inadvertent braking, especially without illumination of the brake lights, may increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will install a partial wiring harness containing a capacitor for the VSA system, the affected Pilots models will have their ground connection tightened.

For Models: Acura MDX, Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot

Drive Train, December 11, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

These vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission have a system that prevents the ignition key from being removed from the ignition lock unless the transmission is in the park position. A part in this system can wear and allow the key to be removed when the transmission is not in park. When the transmission is not in park, the vehicle may roll unexpectedly increasing the risk of a crash. To address this concern, dealers will install an updated shift interlock lever and if necessary, replace the ignition switch.

For Models: Acura TL

Suspension & Steering, May 16, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Prolonged under-hood and power steering fluid temperatures may cause the power steering hose to deteriorate resulting in cracks and power steering fluid leakage. Power steering fluid can leak onto the catalytic converter leading to smoke and possibly an under-hood fire. Dealers will install a new heat resistant power steering hose to correct this concern. The Honda recall number is S39.
