04 Acura TL, AC will come on only if the car is coming from a COLD start, ie it has not been on for a few hours. Also when I go to turn it off while it is running and try to get it back on most of the time it will not come back on and I can tell the compressor clutch is not engaging as I do not hear anything but the engine does rev slightly, freon full,shop says ac clutch is gone

If the clutch is gone, then you will need a new compressor. it used to be that you could just replace the clutch, but that repair is harder now. Most manufacturers want to replace the whole compressor. it is also possible that the compressor is frozen or badly worn as well, which would prematurely wear out the clutch.
