I recently purchased an 2004 Subaru Forester XS, when I run the A/C on Auto after a short time warm air blows out of the vents. I have turned off the Auto and manually ran the A/C and it still does the same thing. I will shut off the A/C wait a bit turn it back on and it's cool again but only for short time. It's been upper 90's with heat index in 105 to 110 and I need my A/C to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd bet that your AC simply needs to be recharged. A visit to a good shop with a competent AC-certified tech is the way go. Don't go to a Quick Lube.

If it's a recharge does that also mean I have a leak somewhere? So you don't recommend diy?

You could do it yourself if you know what your doing. If this is something that you haven't done I wouldn't suggest doing it. I would have someone that knows what they are doing charge your A/C.

I have the same symptoms in my forester 2004. Ac service did not help. On town hall others report a similar problem.

I heard it might be a problem with a relay switch ... not sure which one. AC service does NOT help, freon is not the issue.

No haven't tried again yet. it's a high of 22 here how so not concerned with AC... but if you can see previous post, from 11/12 it shows that it could be aproblem with a relay switch, just not sure which one. They indicated AC service does not help, freon is not the issue. I will probably get this part checked out after the first of the year. Ifyou hear anything or get it checked out before I do, please let me know. I will also post something I find out after the first of the year. Good luck to everyone!!!
