Took car into Dealer because it seemed to be losing its cooling ability - had recharge -
upon return, noticed bad smell - advised to wait and see if it disappeared - didn't -
asked to perform a diagnostic - was advised that the evaporator needed replacement
to the tune of $5,400 - very suspicious! Can anyone advise me on this?

buy a can of lysol disinfectant.turn your ac on high and coldest setting on vents open the doors and spray half the can into your ventilation ducts outside the car.these ducts are rite under the windshield wipers or possibly under the hood.spray all across the louvers back and forth and wait about 15 mins or until the smell of lysol has left the seating area.
