Question: A/C problem

Hello,
My a/c works fine until the engine reaches normal operating temperature. As soon as it does, the clutch disengages and cooling fans turn off. I'm thinking it's the expansion valve being clogged... any suggestions?

The best way to diagnose an A/C problem is to check the pressures with a set of gauges. Other wise, your are really playing a guessing game. You may have a sensor like an Engine Coolant Sensor that is heating up and then putting teh car in to a limp home/ temperature protect operation mode. VW has lots of issues with their Coolant Temp Sensors. Any Check Engine Light on? This could be a really helpful clue.

the check engine light isn't on. The head side pressure is 120 psi with compressor on, and drops to 90psi when compressor turns off. Low side psi stays right around 30 psi.
