Large impacts that temporarily engage the A/C could indicate the A/C clutch has gone bad and needs replaced. You can spray the clutch with belt conditioner (which is very tacky) and if it starts working it will work for a while but, the clutch will need replaced soon.

ok about a 2 weeks ago my a/c was working but was leaking behind the A/C clutch... so, i ordered a new Compressor with clutch,dryer,orifice tube,relay,high and low pressure switches... on in the me...
The heater works on both sides but when I turn on the A/C only the driver side works. The passenger side blows out hot air. Are there any solutions to this problem?
I popped the hood to check and see if anything was wrong and every time I slam hood closed the A/C comes back on
