Its hard to say without being able to hear the noise first hand. The squeak could be the fan belt driving the air conditioning compressor slipping. It could and probably is something more serious in that the system is not producing cold air. The system shuts down and doesn't allow the compressor to engage if the system is low in pressure (due to a leak). The noise could be due to a bad compressor or compressor clutch. Get it checked out it is cheaper to deal with air conditioning system problems when the have just happened as opposed to ignoring the problem for a long time then trying to deal with the problem.
