AC compressor will not shut off?? on 1996 Honda Accord

On/off switch will not shut air conditioner off. The condenser cooling fan and compressor are cycling, but I cannot shut it off. It is doing an excellent job of cooling!! Any suggestions?? Thanks,Jeff

The switch is likely failing to open the circuit and cut the power to the compressor clutch. If you unplug the clutch, it should release. Bear in mind, most modern cars will run the AC to dry the air in defrost mode, even if you've got the AC turned off.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried everything that I can think of. The A/C compressor will run even with everything shut off, even with the heater fan control in the off position. As a last resort, I wired a toggle-switch to control the compressor. Now, I can use it as needed, but their is still a problem. The cooling fans run constantly too.......from the time the car is started, until the key is shut off. The only time the fans will shut off is when I'm using the A/C, and the compressor clutch cycles. When the clutch releases, the fans shut off. This thing really has me stumped!!! Any idea where I can get a full wiring schematic for the car? And all relay switches have been checked and/or replaced. Thanks,Jeff
