ac compressor replacer on 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

is it necessary to replace the expansion valve when replacing the ac compressor. Should you flush it with the old drier the install the new one. The expansion valve is behind the motor, how do you get to it if it must be replaced?

The air conditioning system needs to be evacuated of refrigerant to replace the valve. The refrigerant evacuation and storage requires using special tools then you need gauges and maybe leak detection equipment to do the job properly. Not something to be done at home. There is a company that independent auto repair shops buy their information from that the same information inexpensively to do it yourselfers. The information is year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect....
