My compressor is making a loud noise and when I run the AC at times it gives out a burned rubber smell. Do I need to replace the compressor or have it check on a machine for amount of pressure?

Have it checked out, it sounds like the compressor is seizing up. This can be due to excessive pressure, or internal damage to the compressor.
If it is seizing up, could using a good lubricant such as pb blaster on it solve the problem? It seems to spin very freely after applying the lubricant. Or is it an internal problem likely, that only occurs when it heats up.
