1993 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Q&A

1993 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Question: ABS SPEED SENSORS

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME FOR THIS QUESTION. WHERE IS THE REAR WHEEL ABS SENSOR? IF YOUR ANSWER IS, AT THE TRANSFER CASE TAIL STOCK, DOES THAT SPEED SENSOR DO TWO THINGS? (1) SEND SIGNEL TO THE PCM TO TELL THE TRANSMISSION WHEN TO SHIFT? AND (2) ALSO ACT AS THE ABS REAR WHEEL SENSOR TOO? -
Answer 1
There are lots of different systems and options but vehicle equiped with what Chevy call RAWL anti lock systems have a sensor at each front wheel and only one sensor at the rear, location depend on whether the vehicle is 2 or 4 wheel drive but usually on the differential , it is a two wire at sensor purple/ white, light green/black wires attached to it according to the wiring diagram I am looking at. It would send a signal to the ABS module and if the vehicle has stability control it would be a key input to that system. The signal is also an input to the 4wd system but I don't think it would have a an influence on the transmission electronic controls at all. -
