Question: ABS light comes on and off after a few minutes.

ABS light came on for the first time yesterday and stayed on for a few minutes, when I started it today it came on when I depressed the brake to put in reverse and then went out, could this be as simple as needing brake fluid? I'm a 66 yr old woman and not a mechanic!
