2006 Mercury Mariner Hybrid Question: abs and 4x4 service lights

 Rookie

My abs light...needs to be serviced followed by 4x4 needs to be serviced. What specifically does this mean? Is it still driveable and whay kind of cost could i be looking at approximately.

    The ABS Light means that you need to have the the ABS Computer Diagnosed for codes, that costs about 1 hour say $100. You have NO ABS braking awhile that ABS light is on.
    As for the 4WD I can't say, other than again you need an 4WD Drive Diagnosis, which also involves a Computer - $100.
    As for safety, I can not say, I have no idea if an axle is about to fall out etc. I can't see or drive you vehicle from here, unfortunately, just play it safe and get your Mariner Diagnosed so the repair process can begin. The Diagnosis is NOT the repair, that just tells what is wrong and what needs to be fixed.

    I had this same thing happen, seems to be common with these cars. The toning ring was broken on the ABS. It was a cheap fix from a brake place but the dealer seems charge a lot more.
