Question: about how much should i expect to pay for replacement of rear differential.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado. rear differential is going out and needs to be replaced. dont want to get cheated. I need a fare quote.

    re building the unit would give you new internals unless you have shattered the housing.
    ring and pinion is about 300.
    carrier is 395.
    bearings, shims, collars are 200

    labor is about 7-9 hours depending on whether it is a posi or not.
    fluid is about 30
