Question: about flushing engine

i went for inspection and oil change. mechanic said the is a fungus and should have my antifreeze flushed out i have 63,000 miles is this common.it would cost about 90 dollars.

    it is good maintenance for the coolant to be changed at 50k. the dirt your talking about should be gone with a good chemical flush. we do it for the same price. god move to get it done.

    I don't see how a fungus can grow in 210-220 degree heat, can you? Most things die, when you pour boiling water on them.
    A coolant flush is ok and the price is about right though I question the fungus.
    Anti-freeze loses its effectiveness after about 3 yr or 30-50 k, even though the factories try to sell the 'it's good until 100k'
