Earlier this week I was told by New Century VW that my transmission was dead and all I could do was replace the whole thing (for a quoted $6666) or try and sell my car for the pennies it would be worth with a bum transmission. Completely horrified, I decided I needed a second opinion and came to AAMCO Burbank, and thank god I did. I spoke to Erik over the phone who helped calm me down a bit and assured me that the part that VW said was irreplaceable was in fact completely replaceable, and even if I needed a new transmission it would come nowhere near 6k, so already I'm feeling better. I bring my car in the next day (Erik offered to have it towed in if it couldn't be driven, but it seemed to be driving fine). The shop was packed, but nevertheless Erik calls a quick hour and a half later to say there is nothing wrong with my transmission. NO-THING. VW did have to replace my battery, and he said that sometimes low voltage can mess with a car's computer and it will give funky readings, so that may have messed up the dealership ... VW did have to replace my battery, and he said that sometimes low voltage can mess with a car's computer and it will give funky readings, so that may have messed up the dealership (but still, shouldn't they have known that and counseled me accordingly?). All of this good news came to $0. That's right, COMPLETELY FREE for an external diagnosis (VW charged me $60 to deliver the bad "news"). Here's the skinny-- I am a girl, and I know nothing about cars. I hate taking my car in for work because I feel like I'm going to be taken advantage of and deceived at every turn. I gave Erik (and company) a print out of what the dealership told me was wrong-- they could have easily just corroborated the story and taken me for a couple thousand, but they didn't. They were HONEST and RESPECTFUL and I would feel very confident taking my car to them in the future. I interacted with three guys there, I only caught Erik's name but all three of them were exceedingly polite, helpful, and responsive. Bad car news will come eventually, but good, honest mechanics are priceless and based on my experience there today, the guys at AAMCO Burbank are just that. Show less

We broke down on 95 near 520.. We called Factory Direct Transmission at almost 10 pm. They answered the phone and sent a tow truck to pick up our 02 GMC. They checked out the van, gave us an estimate that we could live with and repaired our vehicle with in 24 hours. They were proffessional, honest, fast, affordable and I would recommend them to anyone who may need this kind of repair.

Id like to thank Eric for his outstanding customer service. I originally went to a sub par trans repair shop who gave me yoyoing prices on the repair. I got in contact with Eric and he gave me quite a bit of information that helped me to decide that his shop was definitely the better shop. So far I see why they have an A rating with the BBB. My vehicle hasn't been worked on yet, but will soon. If their customer service is any indication of their work ethic, you can plan on seeing Factory Direct around for a long long time.
