it makes a ticking sound while accelerating

  It could be many things hard to say without being able to hear the noise first hand. It could be an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold or manifold gasket or an internal engine problem like a bad hydraulic lifter. Best to get some one check it out to be safe.
