developed rough idle days before, died last night while driving 55 mphs, wont restart, sounds like it wants to, how do I check fuel pressure at home? Transmission issues at same time maybe.

The first thing is to scan the vehicle for any code. For Ford, there is a KOEO test that you can run to quickly identify any immediate problem with the engine. There is not enough information for me to give you any other advice @ this time. There should be a fuel pressure port by the fuel rail for you to check fuel pressure, normally 45 psi as I remembered. Sounds like you are having a misfiring problem, and it could be ignition, fuel, timing ...
ck for codes and u will need a fuel pressure gauge for pressure test
you more than likely need a fuel pump
