The labor to change the engine will be between 15 to 20 hours (including transfer of parts but not including transfer of parts if bolts break because they are rusted or previously stripped out or damaged). If it is a "second hand engine" extra time will be charged to replace the timing belt adjust valves and or tune up which will also have added cost for parts. If the Rav 4 is manual trans equipped it may be wise to replace the clutch components now while the engine is out and save your self a duplication of labor later.
