1995 GMC 1500 Pickup Question: 95gmc 1500both headlamps went out at same time? any ideas which fuse?

 Rookie

both had lamps went out at same time. not sure which fuse or what it might be. as well radio, wipers and power doors went out together separate from lamps

    Check ALL fuses with a test light, it going to be a high amp fuse IF that's the problem. Under the hood most likely.

    I have a test light. Do i pull the fuse or how do i test it

    Just ground the clip on the test light and probe the fuses on each side of each fuse through the little opening atop the fuses. Do not remove fuses to check. Turn key on before checking. CHECK ALL OF THEM! The bad fuse will only light up the test light when touching the fuse on one side of the fuse. If light comes on at each side of the fuse, that fuse is ok, go to the next one and so on. If no blown fuses found, stop there and get a mechanic to check it out for you!

    Headlights typically do not have a fuse.....circut breaker protected internal to headlight switch. You may have a body ground cable problem. Also Gm sometimes has 2 positive battery cables stacked at positive side of battery. Check for corroded conection at the battery.
