Have replaced the A/C compressor, power steering pump, harmonic balancer, fan clutch plate, tensioner pulley, idler pulley, alternator and the distributor. All of these parts were not changed due to high pitched squeal. Upon further testing they were found to be faulty and/or going bad. Truck has 269,000 miles and engine runs very strong. There are no misfires. Other than high pitched squealing/squeaking at LOW RPM's truck has absolutely no issues! What could be causing my annoying problem that is driving my wife insane? Now, after replacing all of those components, theory would suggest a severe leak in the intake manifold or TBI. Have completed preliminary tests with starting fluid sprayed around TBI and intake manifold, NO change in revolutions or high pitched squealing noise! I am open to ANY good suggestions that make sense and will be able to correctly diagnose and correct the issue, OTHER than a complete engine replacement or overhaul.

1995 Chevrolet 1500 Pickup Question: 95 C1500 has extremely high pitched squeal coming from engine area
Answer #1ziptie12 April 21, 2014, 21:04Master
Is the squeal there when all belts are off? The squeal is only at low rpms? Only in drive , or also when at idle in park? Step on brake while in gear and gently tap throttle , what does it do?

Have already completed brake check. Squeal is present when all belts are removed. Squeal is present while idling and in drive with low rpm's and while decelerating.

Maybe different description? Noise is there even in neutral , not moving? At what RPM does it go away at? pulse or rhythmic sound or more like a whistle? I'll check back in AM. Good luck!

Noise goes away between 1500-2000 RPM's and is more like a whistle. Noise is present in neutral, not moving and when in drive, moving and in park.
when watching the RPM gauge, upon whistle starting there is a slight fluctuation with the RPM's. whistle is present intermittingly.
whistle is NOT present when vehicle is low on fuel but upon filling up whistle comes back.
