Are there many of these engines blowing up? Or am I just the lucky one?

    These are very reliable engine's, both 4.0 and 4.6. Most failure's are due to lack of maintenance, overdue oil changes etc. I recommend having a trusted repair shop evaluate the engine.

    That is really dependant on how well you have done your preventive maintenance. Like oil changes at least ever 5,000 miles.
