Question: 40k miles repair expectations

Hoping to get a lot of miles out of the Honda...whats the prevent maintenance that's absolutely necessary at 40K...dealer saying I need various fluid changes.

    "Various fluid changes" is not required by Honda under any circumstances.

    You should have an "A" and "B" minder, along with numbers 1-6. This is the absolute necessary maintenance schedule to follow...as per your owners manual.

    Fluids... Brake fluid replacement is a good idea every 3 years at least. It's a good automotive standard to follow. Transmission fluid is good to drain and fill (or flush -- even though Honda isn't hot on flushes) every 30,000 miles or so...but I think it's minder #3 that will tell you when.

    This is not to say that changing your (various) fluids would be a bad idea -- it may be a benefit on some level. It's just not "absolutely necessary".
