1994 Toyota Tercel Question: 4 speed standard: Acts like it wants to stall or stalls entering first gear.

the car acts like it wants to stall or stalls entering first gear randomly,when it acts like it wants to stall but does'nt it struggles in second like its not getting any gas.Mostly it does'nt stallout but when it does it takes up two ten minutes before it will start again. The engin will turn over and almost start but doesn't it takes several tries before it will start .

    You said it is a "4 speed standard" - did you mean a 4 speed automatic? A standard transmission has a clutch. Not trying to insult intelligence here, but the symptoms don't make sense to be a vehicle with a clutch. You had the statement of "entering 1st gear randomly", which is what's throwing me off.

    4 speed stick.WhenI put it in first gear it acts like it wants to stall or does stall. "Randomly" it doesnt happen all the time and there is no particular sequence of events that precedes that action.

    IS IT HARD TO PUT IN GEAR? ON A WILD HUNCH,CHECK TO SEE IF SHIFTER LINKAGE
    MAY BE HITING WIRE OR WIRE HARNESS WHEN SHIFTING. OTHER THAN THAT
    WELL GOOD LUCK.
