Question: 2006 VW Beetle, trunk won't open.

Trunk is supposed to opened automatically with key button, but it does not. When I even tried to pull the lid up, trunk wont open. What should I do to fix this problem? Any idea how much it costs? I bought this 2006 beetle yesterday at the used car dealer shop with no warranty.
