Symptom - no acceleration, the car is in 'limp home' mode. Browsing the internet, this seems to be a common problem with the Toyota Camry 2004 as well, but there is no recall from Toyota for either year. Throttle body replacement is expensive part - over $900 plus labor. Be aware Toyota owners.

You should check the Federal Emission Warranty. They cover some parts for 8 years/80,000 miles. I know the catalytic converter and the ECM is covered, maybe the throttle body also. Call any Toyota dealer and ask them what's covered in the FEW or check your warranty booklet. If it's warranted Toyota will compensate the repair for you.

I have not seen the need for a new throttle body in years. I suggest you take the car to a quality repair facility to have diagnostics performed. The problem may be as simple as a throttle position sensor. Proper diagnostics is the key here.
