I recently posted for help on my 2005 Mustang 6 cyl. I have an engine light that is staying on, I went to auto zone and they ran diagnostic. It shows OEM PO463, says poor electrical connection at the fuel level sending unit. Of course Ford says it has nothing to do recent tune up for 35,000 check, even though the car has only 31,500 on it. Also 3 yr warrenty is up just after 30 days ago of tune up. Any help with repair ideas or reasons for problem is appreciated.

A P0463 is a fuel sending unit malfunction code, an instrument cluster code or a PCM code. How does your fuel gauge read? Does the low fuel light come correctly? If you could have a tech ( not an auto zone well meaning but untrained counter person ) scan the computer and look at the fuel gauge data values it would tell you right away what is going on. It should not take more than 1/2 hour of shop time.

I alos have the same issue as my 2005 stanf failed smog today with the PO4063 error. I have had a check engine light on for a couple of months, the fuel guage and the speedometer guage are both erratic and not accurate. I am taking it in to a mechanic as I need my car, but am really concerned about getting screwed as I have never failed an emissions test and do not know much about them.

Any ideas what could be wrong or what is required to correct?

    Thank you!

The instrument cluster is bad I took mine to Ford dealership and it is going to cost $697 to repair. Turns out this is a common problem so I am filing a complaint with NHTSA the phone number is 1-888-327-4236. Hope this is helpful.
