Remove the fan belt first to eliminate the possibility of the power steering pump, alternator or air conditioning compressor being the true source of the noise. With the belt off you will be able to grab and try to turn or more closely inspect the crankshaft pulley. If there is a drivetrain problem or crank pulley problem it could cause the Crank position code.

pulled valve cover and found there couldnt be anymore slack in chain.pulled belt off infront of owner before buying. 78$ for just chain, 209$ for chain kit. local oreillys still need to do it though.
