k i have a 2000 dodge 2500 with a v10. sometimes it takes off fine others it is real hesitant and runs like crap and at an idle it misses. as i drive and it does it i was told it smells like raw gas behind me and its only the drivers side doing it. i rebuilt the motor completely only thing not new is injectors and coils. the engine light isnt even comeing on. im lost and hopeing for some help so i dont have to take it to the dealer. any ideas

MasterSounds like intermittent misfire, don't have a clue how someone behind you can tell one side from another when they smell the fuel, the smell is likely unburned fuel effecting the cat conv, helps if is malfunctioning when testing for source of misfire, why would you do a complete and not replace old injectors and coils?

Visitor, June 11, 2011, 10:01Replydidnt have much money to do the build. it was an emergency thing. broke 3 spark plugs in head so puled the head off and found a hole in one piston. just bought a kit with pistons rings rods and crank and did it that way. took the heads into napa and had them redone. guess i figured the coils and injectors would be ok and would be easy to change latter when i did have the money to do so and you can tell which side when its sitting idleing. my engine light just came on today had it tested and said map sensor from what guy told me and something about cyl number 9 and o2 sensor but he said change map and those codes should go away. but didnt gurantee anything. which those engine test i heard werent to accurate. was hopeing someone else had same problem.
