2000 Honda Accord

Question: 2000 Honda Accord lx cutting out, is it the fuel pump?

Question

I bought a 2000 Honda Accord from an individual, it has 224000 miles on it,I had the timing belt replaced and it has started cutting out on me alot the maintenance required light would flicker on when it cuts out. it seems to happen more when my a/c is on. now the check engine light is on along with the maintenance required light, plus my gas milage is not good at all. i was told it was the fuel pump but after reading i dont know if it might be the fuel pump relay? how do i determine this. also to replace the fuel pump it says to check and note the radio security codes? how do i find those. thanks.

I strongly recommend taking your car to a professional technician for help with this problem. Fuel pump is a total guess at this point--you are going to put serious time and money into trying to fix this, and the money at a shop would be well spent.

If the problem started right after replacing the timing belt, the timing might be off. Very easy for a mech to miss a tooth on the gears when putting on the belt or not lining up the gears properly. As far as the radio code goes, if not in your paper work, sometimes a sticker is place in different places of the vehicle with the code on it: i.e. the glove box, the door jam, the fuse box cover, or even under the change drawer on the driver side of the dash.
