Question: 1996 honda accord v teck ran out of fuel

Car ran out of fuel and was hard to start. Now it idles fine and runs smooth until it gets to 3000 rpm. Then engine stalls until it gets back below 3000 rpm. As long as it is below 3000 rpm it is fine. any clues?

    you most likely damaged the fuel pump from running out of fuel. have the pressure checked to verify.

    My thoughts also. I am replacing it as soon as it comes. 21.00 on ebay. To make it easy if you pull out the trunk mat you will find a 1/2 in hole next to the back seat on the drivers side. I took a pair of aviation snips and cut out a hole to access the fuel pump, No need to drop the tank. It only took 5 minutes. The fuel pump lifted right out. When I am finished I have a patch panel ready to cover the hole. Why didn't Honda do this? Thanks, Paul

    The 96 Honda Accord has no access panel, but this one does now. Also car is for sale and has 175000 miles so cheaper fuel pump was the answer. I Have used these cheaper parts before and they work great.

    21 on e bay??? that worries me. i am from the school of you get what you pay for. i would get it from a store with a warranty and a reputable brand. i hope it works for you.
    most imports have the acess hole in the trunk or back seat. US cars are the most common failurs that require dropping the thanks. go figure.
