Question: 1995 Volvo 960 auto trans will niot shift out of 1st gear.

Car is driven by 25 year grandson so I have few additional details. It seems this has occurred before and then returned to normal, but this time it has not fixed itself.

    Hi pops!
    My understanding of this vehicle is that this is a limp home condition. Usually brought on by a mechanical failure inside the transmission. Several possibilities are a failed shift solenoid, low fluid level, low pump pressure or failed clutch pack. I believe there are three inside your transmission. The other possibility is a faulty vehicle speed sensor. In which case would cause a check engine light to illuminate. We have the ability to properly diagnose your issue at our shop In temecula.
