1990 Lexus LS400 Question: 1990 ls400 will not go in reveres,won't roll back in neutral. What's da cause?

In drive car will move but only if gas peddle is engaged. Even then car moves as if there's still resistance, as if somethings seized but not enough to hold back the ls400 power.

    Engine off; roll ok in neutral?

    will not roll back with engine on or off. We even jacked it up n placed car in neutral to see if back tires would go in reverse. The rear tires will not roll backwards. But they will spin forward.

    I put the car n neutral, then hit the gas ,while on gas slid car n reverse, it made a loud pop n shot back as if something was stuck or locked. It will drive forward n roll in neutral forward.

    Im thinking rear wheel drive car pulls n pushes from the back.

    Yeah it is a rear drive vehicle but an option was awd. I am going to say it is a rear differential problem that will have to be looked at to confirm.
