How long can you go with the car making the rumbling sound before they need replaced? What would happen if you waited to make the repair.

    Worn wheel bearings would eventually start to smoke and overheat, and eventually could seize and break. Are you certain it's wheel bearings that are making the noise? Often times cupped tires in the rear will rumble and sound like bearing issues. Run your hand over the tread and see if it's smooth or bumpy. Smooth - no noise. Bumpy - very noisy.
